Topic: How Can the World Get Rid of the Current Food Crisis?

The entire world is facing the most severe food price inflation in history. Some Asian and African countries have seen food riots, and the United Nations has called for global efforts to alleviate the pinch on poor families.
Since the second half of the 1990s, the number of chronically hungry people in developing countries has been increasing at a rate of almost four million per year. Hunger and poverty claim 25,000 lives every day. The rising prices could turn the problems even worse.

What factors caused the food crisis? How long will it last? As one of the biggest agricultural country, where does China stand in the crisis? And what can China do to help the world out of the pressure as soon as possible?

Qin Yi interviewed Anthea Webb, Director of the United Nations World Food Programme in China.
