一部故事与拍法都相当经典的悬疑动作片，有不少追逐场面，由两届奥斯卡得主麦克尔·鲁克主演。

       本片讲述了记者约翰·麦纳马拉一向捍卫正义，当他的一位女同事因追踪新闻而神秘失踪时，约翰接手追查真相，发现此事涉及政府高层贪污腐败，如果揭露真相，会影响多位政要的前途，当然也包括他做法官的父亲，最后他还是不畏重重阻拦将内幕揭开。
