       在两会商谈被迫中断９年之后，海峡两岸关系协会会长陈云林与台湾海峡交流基金会董事长江丙坤，在近期签署了里程碑式的协议。

双方最终达成共识，从2008年７月４日开始，实施两岸周末包机。直到目前，两岸通航仅限于我国四个主要节日，但在下月开始，每周五至下周一，每周末36次往返航班将往返于5个大陆城市和8个台湾城市。

台湾方面也同意大陆旅游团赴台，双方即将互设业务办事机构处理航班和旅游问题。这对于两岸关系是一个显著的进展，它的影响如何？双方将会从这种深入合作中获益多少？

After nine years of suspended talks, the mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits chairman Chen Yunlin and the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation chairman Chiang Pin-kun signed landmark agreements recently. 

The two sides agreed to finally start the long-rumored weekend charter flights across the Taiwan Strait on July 4th. Up until now, cross-strait flights had only been offered during four major Chinese festivals. 
But starting next month, every weekend, 36 return flights will fly between five mainland cities and eight Taiwan destinations each Friday through Monday. 

Taiwan also agreed to allow mainland tour groups to visit the island.
It is significant progress for cross-strait relations. But will this small step have a big impact? And how much will each side benefit from deeper cooperation?
