故事发生在20世纪30年代的英国，葆琳、佩特瓦和波希是三个孤儿，她们被一个古怪的中年男人收养，与他们住在一起的还有他亲切可人的侄女。在他离奇的失踪之后，三个孤女为了维持生计，不得不将房子出租给房客。在其中一名房客的影响下，她们不再接受家庭教育，而是前往戏剧学校学习。三个性格迥异的女孩子怀揣着不同的梦想，在戏剧学校里，她们越来越清楚地认识到自己的梦想……这个轻松的喜剧故事是描写这几个女孩是如何为实现她们的梦想而努力的。

    片中的女主角是由哈里?波特系列的“赫敏”爱玛?沃特森扮演。该片在英国播出时收视表现出众，位列16到34岁女性观众最喜爱的五部女性影片之一。
