Amid the joyful countdown at Xintiandi, Shanghai embraces the brand new year of 2008. At this show themed "City Lights Life", thousands of residents and tourists welcome the new year together with the Shanghai World Expo mascot Haibao. Pop singers presented three selected World Expo theme songs, and danced their way into the new year, filling the freezing night with warmth and joy. Local residents and expatriats greet the new year with songs and resolutions.

 

With all the best wishes, we turn to a brand new year. The joyful atmosphere and memorable songs greeted the new year and began the 2008 countdown to the 2010 World Expo.Our top story today, Shanghai celebrated new year's eve with heated countdown parties across the city. Among them, thousands of locals and tourists joined in an annual show at the entertainment hub, Xintiandi. And, the Shanghai World Expo mascot Haibao was also there to start the countdown to the 2010 expo. Dai Qian brings us to the festivities.
