Shanghai authorities are considering building a new metro route, line 14, and it could be be in place in five years' time. The line would ease pressure on line 2... the city's busiest subway line.
The line would start in Jiangqiao in northwestern Jiading district and run through eastern Pudong's Jinqiao... stretching over 36 kilometers. Running partially parallel to line 2 between downtown Jing'an Temple and Lujiazui Stations, the lines would connect at these stations. Approval from state authorities is expected by the end of the year. If it gets the go-ahead, it's estimated it could be finished by 2015 or 2016.
